Description:
Hexagen™ is a petrolatum-based topical dressing intended for the management of acute and chronic wounds.

Appearance:
Opaque, odorless, petrolatum-based ointment.

Summary/Technical Information:
Hexagen™ Antimicrobial contains: Petrolatum, Purified Water, Polyhexamethylene Biguanide (PHMB), Benzalkonium Chloride (<0.01%).

Indications:
Under the management of a healthcare professional, Hexagen™ Antimicrobial is intended for the management of first and second degree burns, venous stasis ulcers, diabetic ulcers, partial and full thickness wounds, donor sites, post-surgical incisions, trauma wounds, and abrasions. It can be used during wound dressing changes to soften encrusted dressings.

Contraindications:
Hexagen™ Antimicrobial should not be used if there is a history of allergy to any of the ingredients.

Warnings:
For external use only on wounds. Do not use as a sole treatment for infected wounds. Do not infuse or ingest. Do not use in/near the eyes, or on raw or blistered skin. Do not apply over large areas of the body. Do not use on
full-thickness burns. Do not use if primary package is damaged. Do not share product with or among multiple patients.

Storage:
Store at room temperature. Avoid excessive heat. Protect from freezing. Use prior to expiration date noted on the package and tube.

Instructions for Use:

  1. Cleanse and dry the wound and surrounding area
  2. Apply Hexagen™ about the thickness of a nickel
  3. Cover with secondary dressing of choice
  4. Dressing may be left in place up to 72 hours


Discontinue Use and Evaluate Site if Any of the Following Conditions Arise:

  1. Irritation, redness, allergy, inflammation
  2. Blistering of skin
  3. If dermatitis or infection is observed


Preservation and shelf-life:

Hexagen™ Antimicrobial is non-sterile and contains preservatives to prevent microbial growth. Once the tube seal has been broken, there is a shelf-life of 28 days. Prior to seal being broken, refer to printed expiration date. Discard after printed expiration date.

Renowned for surgical skill and orthopedic research, he graduated Magna Cum Laude from Duke University with a BS in Biology, and with Honors from Duke Medical School. His residency at Rush Medical Center focused on sports medicine, specializing in knee & shoulder surgery.
